Compatibility & limitations

Plays well with what's already open.

No account to connect and no library to import. SeeLyric just reads what Windows already knows is playing.

Works seamlessly with Spotify and YT Music.

Spotify · desktop app YouTube Music · browser tab

Detection runs through Windows' own System Media Transport Controls, the same mechanism Spotify and the YouTube Music web player already report playback to. Most other SMTC-aware players tend to work too, even though Spotify and YT Music are the two this app is built and tested around.

Platform

Currently available for Windows only, specifically Windows 10 version 1809 (build 17763) or later. There is no macOS or Linux build.

Two lyrics sources, one automatic failover

LRCLIB and NetEase Cloud Music are both checked every 90 seconds for latency and reachability. Automatic mode picks the healthiest one and silently retries the next if a track isn't found, or you can pin one manually.

Click-through & always on top

Locked mode ignores every mouse event by default and sits at screen-saver window level, so it stays visible over fullscreen apps without ever grabbing focus or input.

Remembers exactly where you left it

Position and size are saved to disk the moment you stop dragging or resizing, and restored on next launch. It only falls back to a sensible default if that display is no longer connected.

1 to 5 lines, five transition styles

Show a single big active line or a full karaoke-style window of up to five, with the currently-singing line centered and neighbors dimmed. Transitions: Fade, Slide Up, Bounce, Glow, or None.

12 fonts, full color control

Pick a typeface from a curated list of 12 (system, serif, monospace, and a few playful options), set size anywhere from 12–64px, choose your own active/inactive line colors, or switch on the animated rainbow-gradient line style.

Fully rebindable global shortcuts

Toggle the overlay, toggle the Dashboard, or quit the app from anywhere on your system. Record a new combo by pressing it: it's conflict-checked before saving, and quitting requires at least two modifier keys to prevent accidents.

Language note

English is the primary language, with support for other languages up to a certain extent. The interface itself is English-only, and non-English lyric coverage depends on the two sources it queries: LRCLIB's community database and NetEase Cloud Music, which is included specifically for stronger Chinese-language coverage.
