What SeeLyric does with your data: very little.

Overview

SeeLyric is a free Windows desktop app. It doesn't ask you to sign up, sign in, or hand over any personal information to use it. There's no telemetry, no crash reporting, and no analytics SDK bundled into the app itself. This page explains the small amount of data that does move over the network, and where it goes.

What gets sent out

To show you lyrics, SeeLyric needs to know what's currently playing. It reads that from Windows' own System Media Transport Controls (SMTC), the same mechanism Spotify and the YouTube Music web player already use to report playback to the operating system. That gives the app a track title, artist, and duration, entirely on your machine.

To find the matching lyrics, the app sends only the track title and artist to whichever lyrics source is active (LRCLIB or NetEase Cloud Music, see below). No listening history is stored or transmitted, and nothing is sent unless a track is actively playing.

What stays on your PC

Your preferences, window position and size, font, colors, line count, transition style, keyboard shortcuts, and lyric-source choice, are saved to a local settings file on disk. None of it is uploaded anywhere, synced to an account, or shared with us. Uninstalling the app removes it.

Third-party lyric sources

SeeLyric queries two independent, third-party lyrics databases:

• LRCLIB, a community-run, open lyrics database.
• NetEase Cloud Music, included specifically for stronger Chinese-language lyric coverage.

Automatic mode picks whichever source is healthiest and retries the other on a miss; you can also pin one manually in settings. Each request to these services contains only the track title and artist needed to look up a match. These are separate services with their own privacy practices, which we don't control, so we'd encourage checking their policies if you want the specifics of how they handle inbound requests.

This website

seelyric.com (this site) doesn't run analytics, tracking pixels, or advertising cookies. It's static pages, a stylesheet, and a bit of JavaScript for animation and the download flow, nothing that profiles or follows you across visits.

Children's privacy

SeeLyric isn't directed at children and doesn't knowingly collect personal information from anyone, of any age, since it doesn't collect personal information at all in the first place.

Changes to this policy

If what the app sends over the network ever changes, this page will be updated and the "last updated" date above will reflect it. Meaningful changes will also be noted in the app's release notes.
